About The Firm

ROSEN ARCHITECTURE, a third generation practice, was established in 2012 when Patrick M. Rosen formed a partnership with his father, Michael B. Rosen. The firm is the successor firm to MICHAEL B. ROSEN, ARCHITECT, which was, in turn, the successor firm to ROSEN AND HOROWITZ, ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS, which was established in 1945 by William M. Horowitz and Michael's father, Alfred J. Rosen.

By necessity the firm works in different styles, but, no matter what the style, the goal is clarity of organization and exactitude in function and construction.

Michael holds the degrees of Bachelor of Architecture from CORNELL UNIVERSITY and Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY. He is a Licensed Architect in Illinois and other states, and he is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and he is a Registered Interior Designer in the State of Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Society of Architectural Historians.

After working for the architecture firms of HIRSCHFELD, PAWLAN, AND REINHEIMER; and SKIDMORE, OWNINGS, AND MERRILL, Michael joined the firm of ROSEN AND HOROWITZ, which was succeeded by the firms MICHAEL B. ROSEN and the current firm of ROSEN ARCHITECTURE. Examples of his work have appeared in Contract Design, Glamour Magazine, Home Magazine, House Beautiful, Inland Architect, Metropolitan Review, The Chicago Sun-Times, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, Chicagoland Gardening, and in the book, RESIDENTIAL DESIGN STUDIO by Robert Philip Gordon.

Patrick is a Licensed Architect in the State of Illinois, and he is a member of the American Institute of Architects. He studied Product and Furniture Design at PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN in New York City where he earned the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts. He continued his training at ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY where he earned the degree of Master of Architecture.

Prior to joining ROSEN ARCHITECTURE, Patrick worked in the Chicago office of HOLABIRD AND ROOT and in the New York and Boston Offices of CARLTON FINNERAL MAHONEY ARCHITECTS. His work has appeared in Design Diffusion News, 1999; and Interiors magazine, 1999.
